Dynamics of Air
How do designers, artists, scientists and researchers work with an intangible atmospheric medium such as air? Explore it, alter it, adjust it,…
As part of the Dynamics of Air exhibition, the renowned Breathe Earth Collective from Austria are travelling to Melbourne to talk about their work in RMIT Gallery, and their concepts of hybrid forests in the built environment, as part of the exhibition developed in partnership with the Goethe-Institut.
Breathe Earth Collective will discuss their design philosophy, work, practice and in particular the history, development and ideas behind their work in Dynamics of Air. The AEROSOL climatic installation project allows visitors to inhale breathable saline aerosols and ethereal oils. This is a reinvention of the traditional ‘Graduation Towers’ developed in the 19th century in Austrian and German regions close to salt mines to cure lung diseases, and promotes benefits similar to breathing the salty air at the seaside.
The AEROSOL installation aims at contributing to a critical debate on how the quality of air impacts our health, and the Breathe Earth Collective seeks to raise awareness for rethinking the way we live our everyday lives. Join us to have a discussion on our relationship with two of the most precious resources: air and climate.
Dynamics of Air (14 Sept – 17 Nov) is a new exhibition curated by Malte Wagenfeld showcasing specially commissioned works by designers, creative practitioners and engineers that captures the beauty, dynamics and sensuality of air in our built environment.
